Pattern Ideas:
The Sanibel Lace Shawl is a free pattern from Classic Elite Yarns.
Pictured here in color Redwood, 4 balls.

A triangular shawl worked from the bottom tip up in a simple lace pattern.  The perfect summer shawl.

Check out the latest Classic Elite booklet, Sanibel # 9767.  It's filled with 6 summery designs all knit using Sanibel. Captiva pictured above is an open cardigan worked from the bottom up in one piece to the armholes with a nice wide rib band.

Spring Favorites

Here are a few staff picks for warmer weather, Mother's Day gifts and your stash of course!

We are excited to introduce Bamboo Soft from Lotus Yarns.  A sport weight 100% bamboo with 109 yards/ 50 gram skein.  It has a wonderful drape, perfect for a summer scarf.

 The most delicious cappuccino color.

I'm partial to any gray yarn after growing up in rainy Seattle and this color is gorgeous.  The bamboo really makes the silvers shine.
A cheerful sorbet mix of orange and coral.
 Berries and pink lemonade.
Icy blue, periwinkle and lavender.  Pretty!

We also introduced a couple Anzula yarns this season out of Fresno, California.  Breeze, a lace weight blend of 65% silk/ 35% linen with 755 yards per skein has been very popular.  It's soft, airy with the right amount of drape and the hand dyed colors show off a simple lace project so well.  We also love how each one is wound into little yarn cake.

 Prince and Raspberry.

 Arizona and Emerald.
 Au Natural and Clay

Also from Anzula is Wash My Lace.  100% Merino machine washable lace.  Yes, please!
Each one is hand dyed creating a tonal effect and has 980 yards per 115 gram skein.  Summer shawl time!
 Teal
 Grape
 One Red Shoe
 Arizona
 Toffee
 Seaside

Another favorite is Reflections.  100% alpaca lace hand dyed specially for Yarn Garden in colors inspired by the reflections off of some of our favorite Portland bridges.
There are 437 yards/ 50 gram skein, plenty to make a lacy shawl or scarf.
Colors pictured above: Broadway, Burnside and Hawthorne.

Morrison, Hawthorne and Steel.

Berroco Captiva

Pictured above: Pear # 5517
New from Berroco for spring is Captiva.  A worsted weight, silky blend of  60% Cotton/ 23% Polyester/ 17% Acrylic with 98 yards/ 50 gram skein, $6.50 each.
Created by wrapping a shimmering filament around a smooth cotton blend, this machine washable yarn comes in a wide range of elegant shades.  We are all in love with this yarn

Honey #5520
Polished Iron #5507
 Silver Coin #5503
 Bronze #5506
Venetian Lace #5501

The new booklet, #318 features eight beautiful warm weather patterns designed by the very talented Norah Gaughan, Amanda Keep and Berroco Design Team.  Here are two of our favorites:

A wide drawstring encircles the neckline of the Frascati cardigan with short raglan sleeves, giving the option to tie it at the front or leave open.  We have this design hanging up in the shop, come in and try it on!  Knit in size small using 8 skeins.

Giulia is one of my favorites.  A modern poncho with raglan sleeves, open stitches and a nice wide ribbed edging.  Pictured is the XS/S, 9 skeins.

Pern, a free pattern from Berroco is a relaxed tee knit mostly in garter with slipped stitches creating shaping and detail.  A very wearable top for warmer weather!  So many cute tops to make.  This yarn would also make the most lovely cowl or scarf.
