Big Needles

New from SMC select is Dolce Vita.  A bulky weight loopy blend of 95% wool/ 5% polyamide.  The ball band comes with instructions for finger crocheting a scarf, pictured above, using one skein.  The yarn is very soft and the colors are wonderful.

Here we made a cowl using the same kind of finger crocheting technique with added rows.  This is a free pattern with yarn purchase.

A single strand of the yarn shows how fun the loops and color changes are.
I love all the different colorways and tried to capture them below.

Color #3202, a floral mix of crimson, purple, ice pink, grey and merlot.

Color #3205, a bright mix of teal, fuschia, brass, forest, brown and charcoal.

Color #3206, a mix of magenta, salmon, browns, purple and charcoal.

Color #3204, a mix of charcoal, coral, hunter and camel.

Cowl shown in color #3203

Boulder

Here's another fun one skein scarf using Boulder, knit on size 35 US needles.  Each ball has several different colors that slowly fade into each other with beautiful heathered black undertones.  Pattern comes free with the yarn.

Pictured from top to bottom: Northern Lights, Pueblo, Meadow and Lapis.

Boulder is a super bulky, 53% wool/47% acrylic plied blend of yarn that's oh-so-soft against your neck and surprisingly lightweight.
With 77 yards in a 200 gram mega ball, one ball makes a fabulous scarf (pictured above).
