Knit 1, Drink 2...

Pub Knitting was so much fun! It was great to get out of the summer heat and inside Barley Mill's air conditioning for a night of knitting, gabbing, drinking and eating!

Such a fun group!

We love Pub Knitting!

Seduce Flow Tank - Staff Pick

Two of our wonderful employees have fallen in love with the silky yarn Seduce by Berroco. A mix of silk, linen, rayon and nylon makes it the perfect summer yarn to knit with . The pattern, Flow, is featured in Norah Gaughan Vol. 2 booklet. The pattern is simple and easy, letting the color variegation shine through.

Same top, same yarn, different color! So cute!

Back detail. The color variation is gorgeous!

Ah, what a perfect summer top!

I love the way the colors slowly fade into each other.

Seduce, so lovely!

Charity Knitting Project - Caps for Soldiers

Picture of the cap on a cute model!

We are adding a new project, Caps for Soldiers to our charity list. Most of our projects are ongoing but this one has a deadline of August 26th, which is approaching fast.

The commanders of the 116th Cavalry Brigade Combat Team, (approx. 1,500 Idaho soldiers and 1,200 from Montana and Eastern Oregon) leaving for Iraq in mid September would like to have a cap to put in each soldier’s pack at the time he/she is deployed.
These caps help keep the soldier’s heads warm during the cold season and when it’s hot, hot, hot, the caps can be soaked with water to help keep them cool. Due to burn danger from fire or explosions, caps must be knit with 100% wool. Please choose earth tone colors like beige, tan, black, dark green or brown for safety reasons.

You will find this pattern with the other charity patterns on our website at yarngarden.net. All of us at Yarn Garden hope you will set aside one evening to make a cap and support our troops. We are more than happy to help you pick an appropriate yarn to get you started. A big thank-you to Barbara Jennings and Carla Harwood for bringing this project to our attention.

You can find the pattern here.

The Buzz

My granddaughter Zoe loves hats! I have knit her a fun collection with many more to come.
A simple rolled brim hat with a sparkly novelty yarn sewed onto the end of the antennas. I used Plymouth Jeannee DK, a cotton/acrylic yarn that's machine washable. Knit on a US 5.
The inspiration for this bee hat comes from Lantern Moon's Bee tape measure.

I Dream of Feather and Fan, Staff Pick!

I've been itching to knit out of Punta Yarn's space-dyed cotton when suddenly the enormously popular Cloud Bolero by Ysolda Teague came to mind. This free pattern is easily modified for all body types (I knit the body longer than in the original pattern and knit the sleeves a little longer)

This sweater can be knit in a week and uses the easy-to-memorize feather and fan lace pattern to create a nice, open fabric. And it only took 2 skeins of yarn!

This versatile summer sweater can be yours for less than $28.00!

Summer Project Favorite!

Color Sicily, #7766

Color Hyacinth, #7754

I knitted this scarf after seeing the pattern in the Classic Elite pattern booklet, Picnic. I used the suggested yarn Firefly by Classic Elite and loved it. The scarf is self-fringing, meaning you get to drop stitches on purpose at the end!
Just takes 2 balls and the colors are gorgeous.
I have made 3 already and my mother has even made one in a hot pink!
When you find a good thing, you might as well have one in every color. (and I'm making 1 more...!)

-Annie Yarn Garden Staff
